Malaysia Trademark Renewal

A registered trademark in Malaysia is valid for 10 years from the date of application. To maintain your trademark registration in Malaysia, trademark owner must renew their trademark every 10 years.  In Malaysia, a trademark renewal can be filed within 6 months before the expiry date of the registration.  The process of renewing a trademark in Malaysia typically takes around 3 – 6 months to complete.

It is important for trademark owners to file their renewal application on time to avoid losing their trademark rights. If a trademark registration is not renewed, it will be removed from the register, and the owner will no longer have any legal protection for the trademark. In such cases, the owner will need to file a new application to register the trademark again.  However, it is important to note that there is no guarantee that the new application will be accepted, and the process of registering a new trademark can be time-consuming and costly.
